Manning Up For Tebow

March 24, 2012

Manning-sanity? The Irsay family continues to create opportunities for John Elway, whose credible threat to play for the Yankees in 1983 caused Robert Irsay to punt him to Denver. This time, Elway waited for Robert’s son, Jim, to punt Peyton Manning, and then he hauled Manning in quickly. Fair catch!

Tim Tebow should ask to stay. Back-up QB in the NFL is a pretty good gig, particularly when Hall of Fame teachers have great wisdom to share. Tim has much to learn. Studying film and taking mental repetitions, while watching Peyton Manning execute a state-of-the-art, audible-at-the-line-of-scrimmage, NFL offense will enable Tebow to up his game while fine-tuning his physical gifts.

Aaron Rogers wasn’t happy behind Brett Favre in Green Bay, but it worked out in the end. How many more seasons will Rogers play because he didn’t take a pounding learning how to make quick reads and extend plays with his feet the way Tebow had to do it this year? Count your blessings, do your homework, and then take the reins of our Broncos, Tim.

In 2009, Peyton Manning lead the Colts to an NFL record 22 consecutivet regular season victories and the Super Bowl, only to lose to the Saints late in the game. In 2010, the Colts won the AFC South division title, but lost to the Jets on a last second field goal in the wild card game. Without Manning this season, the Colts were the worst team in the NFL. He’s that good. Go Broncos!

[After Tebo trade to Jets, revised]

Good luck in the Big Apple, Tim, but the situation there does not bode well – unforgiving crowd plus ravenous media equals severe patience deficit.
